But: what’s fair is fair. In an unprecedented move, you have set aside your many personas (real ones, but still) and have given us as much of the Real You as you are able. — I do not, and have never, directly written letters to, or reviews for, people with any level of fame. Several years in Los Angeles in the “biz” during my degenerate youth cured me of “star worship”. Artists, however, are another matter. Because there are so few of you, it seems incumbent upon those of us with aesthetic sense to praise and encourage you as much as we can. You know how it is when an artist’s work touches your brain and heart (and in the case of your art, other places as well): it makes you hungry for more. So, let the adventure continue, Tara, and know I’ll be amazed, sometimes appalled, astonished, analytical to a fault … and cheering you on, every step you take on your journey. Which, by the way, has become mine, too. You’re our insouciant sexual Captain, afer all. :)

— Your appeal to the young bucks out there is obvious. Perhaps not so obvious is your appeal to us not-so-young bucks, those of us with some of our antlers broken off and scars on our hides, adrift and alone in a strange emotional landscape. I can’t speak for every middle-aged man because circumstances differ even if the results are similar. But in my own case, you were initially a reminder of what I had lost … and a reminder of what’s possible out there. Well, at the very least, you reminded me, through the infinite variety of your work, of the infinite variety of your gender and just how wonderful great women can be. Thank you for that — I needed it. Still do need it, at my lowest moments, which occur less often since I encountered your work completely by accident 10 months ago.

— For reasons in my personal narrative which I won’t go into here you have: made me laugh, made me cry a couple of times, sent me smiling on nostalgic reveries, and … yes, made me horny.
